Children Carry Guns for a U.S. Ally, Somalia

Awil Salah Osman prowls the streets of this shattered city, looking like so many other boys, with ripped-up clothes, thin limbs and eyes eager for attention and affection.

But Awil is different in two notable ways: he is shouldering a fully automatic, fully loaded Kalashnikov assault rifle; and he is working for a military that is substantially armed and financed by the United States.

“You!” he shouts at a driver trying to sneak past his checkpoint, his cherubic face turning violently angry.

“You know what I’m doing here!” He shakes his gun menacingly. “Stop your car!”

The driver halts immediately. In Somalia, lives are lost quickly, and few want to take their chances with a moody 12-year-old.

  1. AnglicanFirst says:

The Viet Cong in South Vietnam reached a ‘low’ when they recruited children to carry guns or to be ammunition bearers for their combat units.

  2. Sick & Tired of Nuance says:

The Khmer Rouge used children as soldiers and wrought the Killing Fields with them. There is an interesting comment about how the “children are easily brainwashed”. This is so very true and is one of the reasons that we Home School. We are avoiding the official government Humanist propaganda, the pro-homosexual propaganda, and the situational ethics propaganda. The schools in the United States spend so much time on all the dogma that they aren’t actually doing a very good job of teaching the basics. That may be why President Obama, who graduated from Harvard with a law degree, thought that there were 57 states in the U.S. It may explain why President Obama, who was a professor at the University of Chicago, doesn’t know the difference between “advise” and “advice”. It may also explain why he did not grasp that the language of Austria is German, not “Austrian”. I wonder what he learned as a youth when he was in the company of folks like Jeremiah Wright, Bill Ayers, Father Michael Pfleger, or Rashid Khalidi?

But, I digress. Youth is extremely susceptible to indoctrination (brain washing) and it is very troubling to look at the demographics of Muslim states that are just burgeoning with kids 15 and under, while most of the European West has fertility rates less than 1.5. Islam is waxing ever stronger while the neutered West struggles to steal from their own youth to pay for the retirements of their growing geriatric populations. Many Western innovations exacerbate this problem. Abortion, the promotion of “Gay marriage”, Civil Unions, excessive taxation, and deliberate narcissistically small families have all contributed to the fall of Western Europe and the rise of Eurabia. The children of Islam are indoctrinated by the most radical and violent elements of that religious group and you can see a taste of the future of Europe on the Horn of Africa.

How fast will the transition occur? Well, in about 4 years the Russian army will be majority Muslim. That’s right, a nation that arguably has the world’s largest stockpile of nuclear weapons will have an army comprised of a majority of Muslims within the next 4 years.

There is this valley called Jezreel that lies in North Central Israel. In that valley, there is an interesting archaeological hill known as Tel-Megiddo where the ruins of at least 26 city fortresses can be found. I think there is some sort of old story about the place that involves a people known as Magog. Hmm…I don’t suppose anyone believes those old stories anymore.

So, let’s all fret about the oil spill and the economy and the kids of Somalia; but let’s not think too deeply about things.

“The time has come,” the Walrus said,
    “To talk of many things:
    Of shoes–and ships–and sealing-wax–
    Of cabbages–and kings–
And why the sea is boiling hot–
    And whether pigs have wings.”

“But wait a bit,” the Oysters cried,
    “Before we have our chat;
For some of us are out of breath,
And all of us are fat!”
    “No hurry!” said the Carpenter.
They thanked him much for that.
